Question 1

Who runs BoardSpy?

Accepted Answer

BoardSpy is built and operated by a small product team led by the founder listed on the homepage Team section. For privacy or trust questions, email ahmeds@boardspy.site.

Question 2

Where do traffic and weather data come from?

Accepted Answer

Route checks use data from your configured maps provider (typically Google Maps traffic). Weather uses third-party weather APIs. See https://boardspy.site/facts/data-sources/

Question 3

Is BoardSpy an emergency or safety service?

Accepted Answer

No. Alerts are planning aids using commercial maps and weather APIs. They can miss disruptions or be delayed — never rely on BoardSpy for evacuations, medical emergencies, or legally mandated decisions.

Question 4

What does the Basic plan include?

Accepted Answer

Basic keeps leave-time traffic alerts on 1 route after the 7-day trial, with unlimited meeting alarms, 5 voice minutes a month and up to 10 deals. For more routes, the full shift calendar and the lock-screen leave countdown, choose Pro. Prices are shown in the App Store and Google Play; see https://boardspy.site/pricing/

Question 5

How accurate is the traffic data?

Accepted Answer

We use Google Maps real-time traffic API — the same data that powers Google Maps navigation.

Question 6

When do I receive alerts?

Accepted Answer

By default, alerts arrive 30 minutes before your set leaving time. You can customize from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Question 7

Can I use it for my bike commute?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BoardSpy supports car and motorcycle/two-wheeler modes with route-specific estimates.

Question 8

Does it work in my city?

Accepted Answer

If Google Maps works in your city, BoardSpy works too. We support worldwide locations with traffic data availability.

Question 9

Can I set different routes for different days?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pro and Yearly support up to 3 routes; Lifetime supports up to 5 routes for different commute setups.

Question 10

Can I pay on Gumroad instead of by card?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sign in to BoardSpy at boardspy.site first, then pay on Gumroad using the same email address. Your plan activates automatically when emails match.

Question 11

How do I know if I should change my route?

Accepted Answer

BoardSpy checks your saved commute route before you leave. If live traffic delay exceeds your threshold, you get a push alert so you can leave earlier or open Google Maps for a detour. See https://boardspy.site/facts/detour-and-route-change-alerts/ and https://boardspy.site/facts/best-route-for-commute/

Question 12

Does BoardSpy check weather and road conditions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pre-departure alerts include route-specific weather alongside Google Maps traffic data. BoardSpy is a planning aid, not an emergency service. Details at https://boardspy.site/blog/route-planner-with-weather/

Question 13

How do Calendar Alarms work?

Accepted Answer

Connect Google Calendar in the BoardSpy app (read-only). Events with a real address get a leave-by alert from your saved commute origin plus live traffic. Meetings without a place, including video calls, get a meeting alarm before they start. You can turn individual meetings on or off.

Question 14

Does BoardSpy edit my Google Calendar?

Accepted Answer

No. BoardSpy only reads calendar events you choose to use. It never creates, edits, or deletes events in Google Calendar. On Pro, you can export your BoardSpy shifts to a calendar on your phone. Disconnect anytime from the same screen.
